Olympic National Park Elopement

The Rainforest

This rainforest elopement took place in early spring—a beautiful, lush, green season in Olympic National Park. The week leading up to this date we were watching the weather and expecting cold, mild temperatures. Instead, the morning of their elopement I encountered snow, sleet, and blue skies over the course of a couple hours. We didn’t know what the afternoon would look like, but we hoped for the best. As a result, these rainforest images are truly PNW vibes—dripping wet ferns, moss-covered trees, and cloudy skies.

In the afternoon we drove down the coastline to one of my favorite beaches. There, these two planned a quick cozy picnic, followed by some portraits with what was meant to be sunset. However, sunset was more like dark colorful clouds and a barely visible sun. What made this day so perfect was the joy and excitement these two expressed! Their original plan of a Hoh Rainforest elopement was disrupted by a road closure, and they shifted plans with me effortlessly. When the weather changed and I called to suggest a slight alternation to our meeting place, they said, “we trust you, we’ll meet you anywhere!” I think the resulting images are truly unique—

Lake Crescent Portraits

The trailhead to the above forest area begins at Lake Crescent. Either before or after their elopement, couples often choose to enjoy the serene beauty of this stunning lake—clear water, shoreline covered in pine and fir trees, and fern-lined trails are what Lake Crescent is known for. There are both west and east-facing docks, so you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset on the shore.
