Windy Elopement at White Sands

Getting Ready at Their Airbnb

G & M booked the coolest Airbnb in Las Cruces! Seriously, this place was beautiful enough to be an elopement venue all on its own. The courtyard is a covered greenhouse, and on this particularly windy day the roof panels let in light, and also protected us from the howling gusts outside.

Ceremony in the Dunes

These two wanted to say “I do” somewhere totally unique, and different from the surroundings of their home in Texas. The dunes of White Sands National Park were extra dramatic this day because the wind was blowing hard enough to make the top later of sand flow past our feet.

Picnic Away from the Wind

This lovely cake and macarons are from Hello Cakery, my favorite bakery spot in Las Cruces. White Sands has a lot of picnic areas, like the one we stepped into for this moment, with wind guards to protect your food from becoming gritty.

Sunset at White Sands

While wind can be a little added difficulty to an outdoor wedding, the debris it kicks up in the air makes the sunsets much more dramatic! Kind of like wildfire sunset (if you’re from the west coast, you know what I mean), or even just air pollution, the particulates of sand kicked up in the air by a particularly strong wind will add a lot of color to the sky at the end of the day.
