The One Where the Canadian Married the American
A Sweet Backyard Wedding in Santa Fe, New Mexico
A & C did it right! From the moment I arrived to document the getting ready photos—through their first look, ceremony, and reception—these two had FUN! It helps that they have some of the most incredible humans in their corner. This beautiful backyard wedding in Santa Fe was made even more memorable by the lovely souls I met throughout the day. Of course, the stunning historic home made a memorable backdrop, but nothing can outshine these two!
Cocktails & Cornhole
Something I really loved about this wedding was how much they prioritized GAMES! From Phase 10 with the wedding party as they got ready, to Canada vs. United States edition cornhole during cocktail hour. C & A facilitated laughter, fun, and all around good vibes that permeated their whole day. Of course, their dog Mozzie might have interrupted cornhole as soon as he discovered stealing the bags resulted in a chase…
Group Photos
This rock outcropping is one of the most epic places I’ve ever seen for wedding party photos—and it was right in their backyard!
Tips for bringing your dog to your wedding:
Designate someone as “dog handler” so you can pass off the responsibility & relax
Make sure no one else is bringing their dog, because your pup should be the center of attention on a day that is likely highly stimulating
“Puppy proof” the food, space, and make sure there is nothing toxic for your furry friend to eat
Some obedience training will be helpful. Your wedding will be easier if your dog knows not to eat off plates, keep their paws firmly on the ground, and not knock over children
Set aside time to include them (like for some photos) and then make sure they have a quiet space to go to when you’d rather be with your guests
Ceremony
A & C had a beautiful backyard ceremony—complete with local flowers, string lights, a handfasting ritual, and their dog standing with the groomsmen. Speeches from their parents had everyone crying, and in true A & C fashion, their “first kiss” was cemented with a high-five.

Reception
After stepping away to take some portraits during one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed, we joined back up with everyone else for a lovely dinner and reception. The toasts and speeches from family were hilarious, sweet, and beautiful. It is clear that A & C are deeply loved by their community, and it was my honor to witness this special day!
“I would recommend Jenn to anyone for anything! She and Dillen were the perfect inclusion to our wedding day. By the end of their time, we honestly just wanted them to stay and hangout. My partner and I really hate getting our picture taken. Jenn made it so comfortable and she was so open to our ideas. We have a dog that we really wanted in our pictures and she was so open to making that work for us. And, more importantly, her pictures are STUNNING! She just loves photography and it comes through in her professionalism and her pictures. We also had a videographer who she has not worked with in the past and she was so flexible and professional working with them to make everything the perfect experience. You will not regret this choice!” —Courtney
