Skagit Valley Forest Elopement

A & S began their morning elopement with a First Look in the foggy field beside their home. It was mystical how the morning dew clung to the ground and softened everything until the sun had risen quite a ways above the horizon. From there we ventured further into their property where the fields turn to forest.

They invited only a small handful of their nearest and dearest to witness a marriage many years in the making. This relationship was built on friendship and adventure. I couldn’t help but smile as A & S shared how they met through a mutual love of skydiving. From the very beginning their love of adventure drew them closer and it only made sense they would begin this next chapter of their journey with an adventurous wedding in the forests of Skagit Valley—a place that means so much to them.

Something especially unique to A & S was attaining a very specific portrait—them kissing with flames in the background. Now, before you ask “what the heck?!” it’s important to know that A is a firefighter! So we wrangled their kids, who happened to have gotten flame throwers for the holidays, to help us make it happen.

With the kids in place and the flamethrowers aimed, I had only a second to get the following images, but I think you’ll agree it was worth it…

A is also a wedding photographer, and it’s always a special honor to be asked to photograph another artist. She had a vision in mind for this day, and the detail she put into each little thing was incredible. From the custom work on her outfit to the freshly cut stumps turned into seats for the guests, this little elopement in the woods was magnificently curated.

Their beautiful forest ceremony took place on land that has been in S’s family for generations. These trees witnessed him grow up, and stood watch during life’s many seasons. To say “I do” in this specific place meant so much to both A & S.

Surrounded by their closest family and friends, under a canopy of mossy branches, this beautiful family became complete. There wasn’t a dry eye anywhere when S kneeled down to speak to his son and promise to be there for him always. It was a beautiful moment feel the enormity of this occasion.
